Meet Madelyn Alvarino
Madelyn Alvarino comes from a working-class family. Her parents fled communism in Cuba and built a better life in Pennsylvania. After graduating from Penn State University, Madelyn went on to work as a public school teacher, in-home care aide, and businesswoman. Having worked and paid taxes since age 15, she understands the value of hard work and what it means to make every dollar count.
Today, Madelyn sees the promise of the American Dream slipping out of reach for too many working families as costs continue to rise and politicians in both parties fail to put people first. That’s why she’s running for State Representative. She’ll work to lower the cost of living, stand up to price-gouging corporations and corrupt politicians, and bring empathy, common sense, and fiscal responsibility to Harrisburg. Madelyn will fight to spend our tax dollars wisely and make sure District 13 gets its fair share back from Harrisburg.
Priorities
For too long, we’ve been told to focus on what separates us. This campaign is about what connects us — our families, our livelihoods, and our hope for a stronger, economically thriving, more united District 13.
Affordability
- Raise the minimum wage—no one working full-time should struggle to get by.
- Fund public schools fairly so quality education isn’t dependent on local taxes.
- Lower healthcare costs & expand access, including hospital care, for everyone in District 13.

- Every child deserves a world-class public education.
